A video posted by one of the Samoans in Jerusalem, Israel shows that our people are safe and 22 are ready to return to Samoa tomorrow.

The Israel-Palestine conflict intensified last Saturday, when both of the nations crossed each other’s borders. Under the leadership of Hamas, Palestinian militant organizations carried out an invasion and assault on Israel from the Gaza Strip. They breached the Gaza-Israel barrier, gained access through the Gaza border crossings, and entered Israeli settlements and military facilities in close proximity.

Vincent Jr. Schmidt of Jerusalem, posted a video on Monday, in relation to the war portraying its effects on the Samoan citizens living in Jerusalem and Israel. Vincent lives in Jerusalem and has stated he believes the people there are still safe.

Vincent is an online influencer, known for biblical sessions and encouraging quotes which he posts regularly. He gained followers and with the attention from his followers he decided that he was given the opportunity to update the Samoan families of relatives in Jerusalem and Israel regarding their safety from the war.

“There are 42 Samoans living in Jerusalem and Israel however, because of the war break-out, 22 of the families are boarding back to return to Samoa after years of service in their current location.”

“Some families are still alive and are well, the 50% of the people who live here are safe,” said Vincent.

According to his writings and posts online, Vincent was in Israel last week, on the day he was boarding to go to France, for work purposes, it was only in the next few hours he heard on the news and Social media that the war had begun again after years of conflict. The attack was carried out on 7th of October.

As seen on many articles through social media, the conflict has taken a heavy toll on those residing in Israel, with tortures and killings of innocent lives.

However, Vincent told the Media and the members of the public of Samoa stating that the war is still ongoing and the Samoans there are safe.

Overall of the sources provided and carried out by Vincent Schmidt, 22 out of 42 Samoan families in Israel and Jerusalem are escaping and are boarded to return to Samoa.
