44 NEWLY SWORN-IN POLICE OFFICERS BEGIN THEIR JOURNEY OF SERVICE AND PROTECTION IN SAMOA (33 WOMEN)

In a momentous event held at the Mulinu'u District Court, 44 newly recruited police officers took their oaths yesterday, 11th of July, marking the commencement of their careers in law enforcement. These men and women successfully completed four months of rigorous training and assessments, preparing them for the challenges they will face in their roles. Among the recruits, 33 were female, highlighting the increasing representation of women in the police force, while 11 were male.

Assistant Commissioner Muliagatele Lorraine Lees and Officer In Charge of Training Superintendent Malu Talo, alongside their dedicated staff, were present to witness the swearing-in ceremony, demonstrating their support for the recruits as they embark on this noble path of public service.

The distinguished District Court Judge, His Honourable Mata’utia Leota Raymond Schuster, presided over the ceremony, administering the oath to the newly recruited officers, as well as to the existing 44 appointed police officers. His Honourable Judge Mata’utia shared words of wisdom and inspiration with the new recruits, emphasizing the significance of the oath they took.

"This oath symbolizes your commitment to serving and protecting the people of Samoa. It is a sign of your dedication to law and justice. You must remember this day and the oath you took for the rest of your lives," said His Honourable Judge Mata’utia, underscoring the gravity of their responsibilities.

Judge Mata’utia reminded the recruits of their duty to serve the public and stressed the importance of responsible exercise of power. He urged them to always remember their oath and to uphold law and order with honesty and integrity. By emphasizing the value of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, he instilled in them a sense of honor and duty.

Congratulating the 44 recruit officers on their successful completion of training, District Court Judge Matautia Leota Raymond Shuster commended their dedication and hard work. This milestone represents the beginning of their journey as police officers, where they will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on their communities and uphold the principles of justice.

The newly recruited officers will further celebrate their achievements with a graduation ceremony on Thursday, July 13, 2023. The event will take place at the EFKS Tupulaga Hall in Mulinu'u, providing a platform to honor their accomplishments and inspire them as they enter this important phase of their careers.
