Australia donates medical equipment to Samoa
Australia has donated Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) and medical equipment to Samoa, and has launched a new partnership "Tautua - Human Development for All".
The donation of P.P.E. and medical equipment was handed over by Australia's Foreign Minister Senator Penny Wong to Samoa's Minister of Health Valasi Tafito Selesele at the Ministry of Health's (M.O.H.) Pharmaceutical Warehouse on Thursday.
Valasi had also acknowledged Australia's support in E-Health initiatives, and gave thanks to Australia for their assistance.
"Through the development of our E-Health platform as well as P.P.E. donation you have ensured that Samoa’s health interest and developments remain well equipped in not only facing COVID-19 pandemic but challenges in our health systems as they arise," Valasi said.
Senator Wong on Thursday congratulated Samoa for being the country with the highest vaccination rate in the region, which according to her is through great leadership from the Government and community.
"Australia has a new Government and we want to work in partnership with you, and I am very pleased today to announce a new eight year partnership to address the complex human development and social inclusion challenges you face," Senator Wong said.
"The new partnership Tautua Human Development for all will enable us to work together to foster collective action to address the challenges that you have identities as the most critical.
"It is a demonstration of the genuineness of our partnership."
