Samoa Police, Prisons and Correction Services Deputy Commissioner Papali'i Monalisa Tiai-Keti becomes the first Pasefika member of the Australasian Council of Women and Policing ACWAP to win the Audrey Fagan Memorial Award”
Pacific law enforcement members made history at the 23rd Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Awards, in Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday 19th October 2022, sweeping up a total of 4 excellence awards with Samoa Police, Prisons and Correction Services Deputy Commissioner Papali'i Monalisa Tiai-Keti becoming the first “Pacific member to win the events highest honour, the Audrey Fagan Memorial Award”. The memorial award recognises outstanding women who have shown exceptional qualities as a mentor, role model and leader of men and women in policing and law enforcement.
The winner is chosen by a selection panel from all of the nominees across all Award categories and DC Papali'i was recognised and was commended for her commitment and “outstanding determination, resilience and leadership to break through barriers for women in the Samoa Police Service. She has also become an exceptional voice for all women in the Pacific. An admirable example of what women do and achieve in the workforce.
Papali'i Monalisa Tiai-Keti was joined by Superintendent Margaret Marshall, Fiji Police Force, who won the Integrity and Courage Award, which acknowledges the courage required to make the community and law enforcement better for everyone.
Margaret was known for her display of courage and innovative leadership, amidst the world health crisis COVID-19 that struck Fiji devastatingly.
Inspector Czarist Daniel of the Nauru Police Force was awarded with the Excellence in Law Enforcement in the Pacific Region Award. She was recognised commitment and passion for policing against all odds was recognised and commended at the Awards.
Lautoa Faletau joined the winners' circle by winning the Most Outstanding Female Administrator Award recognising her advocacy work for more “Pacific women, representation and voices in policing, as well as police response to gendered violence and equality”. Lautoa Faletau is a former Australian Federal Police Pacific Command Member.
The 23rd Australasian Council of Women in Policing Awards saw well over 500 people from law enforcement agencies and all walks of life joined together to celebrate the momentous achievement our Samoa Police Deputy Commissioner Papali’i Monalisa Tiai-Keti and our neighbouring island women in the Policing realm have achieved for the betterment of our nations.
