In a heartwarming collaboration, the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) and Digicel Samoa celebrate a remarkable 17-year partnership dedicated to healing and supporting abused individuals. SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang describes the relationship as an extraordinary connection between a telecommunications giant and a social service provider, emphasising the strength and closeness that has developed since SVSG's inception in 2005 and Digicel's launch in 2006.

The collaborative efforts between Digicel Samoa and SVSG have been diverse and impactful. From co-sponsoring the SVSG Helpline service to coordinating fundraising drives for the Ray of Hope shelter, which provides refuge for pregnant victims of rape, the partnership has borne fruit in numerous ways. Ongoing support for abused and vulnerable children at the Campus of Hope shelter has been a key focus, showcasing the depth of commitment from both entities.

One particularly heartening tradition established by Digicel Samoa is the annual "Christmas with Digicel at the Cinemas," where abused children are treated to a night at the movies, enjoying the cinema exclusively for themselves. This event, spanning over a decade, reflects Digicel Samoa's dedication to bringing joy and normalcy to the lives of those who have faced adversity.

The recent visit to the Campus of Hope by Digicel Samoa took on a bittersweet tone as it coincided with the announcement of the retirement of Digicel Samoa's long-serving Chairman, Pepe Christian Fruean. However, Fruean's departure comes with a selfless gesture as he redirected the funds earmarked for his farewell towards SVSG, demonstrating a profound commitment to the cause.

Digicel Samoa's Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Seuseu, spoke of the company's decision to honour Fruean's request, redirecting the farewell budget to support SVSG's invaluable work. SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang expressed deep gratitude for Fruean's sincerity and leadership, highlighting his pivotal role in successfully reintegrating children survivors of violence with their families and saving lives through the Helpline service.

As Digicel Samoa continues to uphold its commitment to charitable causes, the SVSG Board of Directors extends thanks to the company's CEO, management, and staff for their unwavering support. The article concludes with warm wishes from the children of hope and SVSG, extending a heartfelt Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to Pepe Christian Fruean and the entire Digicel Samoa family. This enduring partnership serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the transformative power of compassion and collaboration in making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
