FIRE BREAKS OUT AT SATUIATUA BEACH RESORT
A beach resort in Savai'i experienced a tragic incident over the weekend when the accommodation caught up in flames, destroying the kitchen, restaurant and some of the resort's most valuable assets.
The tragedy has left the business with yet another unexpected setback to recover from after borders only just recently reopened.
According to a video clip posted on their ‘givealittle fund’ page, villagers were seen running with buckets of water to try and quench out the slithering fire. A member of the public who documented the incident mentioned that the fire department was a bit late to show up at the scene.
Without the assistance of the villagers who quickly responded to help put out the fire the resort's beach fales (houses) would've easily been demolished, especially with the wind helping the flames grow bigger . Thankfully, the villagers managed to water the burning restaurant down , despite the absence of the firemen who were contacted.
Eyespy Radio was unsuccessful in receiving an update from the police station and the owners of the resort regarding the incident. However, the owners of the resort have set up a ‘givealittle go fund me’ page for any members of the public and supporters who would like to assist in helping them get back on their feet.
The Satuiatua Beach Resort has been serving the tourism industry of Samoa for 27 years and is one of the longest serving hotspots for tourists from overseas.
