Island Farmers and Fishers Association from Saanapu and Safata host Talomua

The Talomua was hosted on Saturday at the Fugalei Market with the theme "Galulue mo le manuia sa lilo".

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (M.A.F.), the Minister of M.A.F. Laauli Leuatesa Schmidt highlighted the Government’s planned District Development Funding Scheme which will be effective in the next financial year (2022-2023) that will further assist the development of our farmers and fishers at the grassroots level of each community.

Laauli had congratulated the Association for hosting the event and had encouraged the farmers and fishers to prioritize development for the benefit of their families and communities and stressed the importance of investing in agriculture and fisheries in order to sustain income, food and nutrition security.

M.A.F. had provided coconut seedlings, fruit trees, packets of vegetable seeds and farming tools and equipment to the association.

According to the statement, there are more than 20 communities and districts who have schedules to host their Talomua from now until June this year.
The village of Tafua had recentky held their Talomua, including the the village of Tapatapao who had hosted their first talomua nearly two weeks ago.
