Junior Paulo Calls For International Rugby League Test Matches
Toa Samoa's captain and Parramatta Eels front-rower Junior Paulo is calling for more international rugby league test games for his team in the coming years to ensure that Toa Samoa remains one of the top teams in the code of rugby league.
"I believe our people want to see more games in the future, but you know it costs money to organize and host these games,"
"So hopefully the governing bodies at the top are able to fund and put more money into our pathways and Rugby League Samoa," stated Junior Paulo.
The captain made the statement when asked by Eyespy Radio on how he feels about New Zealand rugby league coach Michael Mcguire's comments in Stuff Sport's article on the 13th of November this year where Mcguire stated that ,“We (Samoa, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, P.N.G) only get one or two games like this a year and then you look at I guess the Australian side where they’re playing in Origins and playing at a higher intensity,"
“There’s no reason why Tonga and Samoa can’t play in test matches at the top level because they’re developing at a really high level too so playing test matches and bringing players together in games like that I think is really important for the international game."
Junior Paulo signed off by conveying words of encouragement to the youth of Samoa who want to pursue a career in rugby league.
"I encourage you to do whatever it is you want to pursue, whether you want to play league or work in the office is up to you. If it's your dream then I urge you to chase after it," he said.
