At the end of Manuma Samoa's dominant performance against the Tonga A side yesterday at Apia Park whereby they defeated the visitors 69 - 7 in their first outing of the Pacific Challenge 2023, Elisapeta Alofipo, the fullback of the boys in blue who is also a former Manu Samoa 7s player celebrated the victory by proposing to the love of his life and asked her to tie the knot.

He knelt in front of his partner after the game and asked her is she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

In an interview with Eyespy Radio, Elisapeta conveyed that he kept the proposal as a secret from his friends and family, and that he waited until the end of the game against Tonga A to pop the question.

"I'm just filled with joy because she said yes," stated an elated Elisapeta after he proposed. "And to top it off we got the desired result we were hoping for against Tonga A. Words cannot express how happy I am right now, but all the glory goes to the man above for without his guidance all we do is meaningless," he said.

The long awaited World Pacific Rugby Challenge which was last held in Samoa thirteen years ago was supposed to commence in 2020 but due to Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions the event was postponed.

Four teams which include Fiji, Tonga, Japan and Samoa are vying in the competition, with Fiji thoroughly demolishing the brave blossoms from Japan 72 - 15. The three-day tournament kicked off yesterday, with the second round of the competition to be played on May 8 and the third round on the 13th of this month.

The event features for rugby players under the age of 23.
