Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour CEO Pulotu Lyndon Chu Ling and ACEO Tofilau Mathew Alesana have been suspended following an investigation regarding the Labour Export Programme within the Ministry.

In an announcement by the Ministry that circulated online ,Tuesday morning this week , the Government's Press Secretariat stated that the decision by the PSC (Public Service Committee) to investigate the Labour Export Programme was the reason behind the Cabinet's decision.

"This decision has been made to allow the Public Service Commission to conduct an investigation into the Division of the MCIL that leads and coordinates Samoa’s Labour Employment Export Programme," stated the announcement.

The suspension of the CEO & ACEO comes after an unauthorized flight by a group of seasonal workers who flew to New Zealand earlier this month after an advisory was published that scheduled flights were canceled for a temporary period.

Efforts by this Radio Station to obtain comments from the Chief Executive Officer Pulotu Lyndon Chu Ling were unsuccessful. A phone call to the offices of the Ministry stated that the C.E.O has been on
leave for the past week.
