Moana Pasifika, the dynamic rugby franchise representing the rich tapestry of Pacific talent, has unveiled a formidable squad set to compete in the annual Super Rugby U20s tournament in Taupō. This announcement comes on the heels of an electrifying showcase of skill and passion in the inaugural Oceania U20s Challenge.

A staggering twelve players from the Junior Manu Samoa and the Junior ‘Ikale Tahi, who recently battled it out in the Oceania U20s Challenge, have secured their spots in Moana Pasifika's lineup. The rigorous competition not only provided a platform for emerging talent but also fostered stronger bonds within the Pacific rugby community.

Leasiosiofaasisina Kevin Senio, Moana Pasifika Pathways Manager, emphasized the significance of the Oceania U20s Challenge in nurturing young players for the professional arena. "The event," he noted, "not only showcased the raw talent across the Pacific but also solidified our connections with Pacific unions, ensuring a bright future for our rugby."

Among the standout players selected is Junior Manu Samoa Captain, Wally Tau Vesi, whose leadership prowess and dynamic style are set to ignite Moana Pasifika's campaign. Joining him is Junior ‘Ikale Tahi's Peter Mafi, whose ferocious playing style has caught the attention of coaches.

The squad reflects the diverse heritage of the Pacific, with players of Fijian, Cook Island, Tongan, and Samoan descent proudly donning the Moana Pasifika jersey. Additionally, the inclusion of local talents like Alister Saulala from De La Salle College underscores the franchise's commitment to nurturing homegrown talent.

Essendon Tuitupou, a standout in New Zealand's age-grade rugby scene, will lead the team as captain, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the squad.

The tournament, scheduled from March 16th to March 23rd at Owen Delany Park, promises thrilling matchups, with Moana Pasifika set to kick off their campaign against the Blues U20s team. Rugby enthusiasts can catch all the action exclusively on Sky Sport.
