Number Of Domestic Violence Incidents Increase
The Deputy Commissioner of the Samoa Police Services, Papalii Monalisa Tiai Keti, stated during a press conference with various media outlets on Tuesday afternoon that the statistics of domestic violence cases for this month is rising at an alarming rate.
"Domestic violence cases for the month of October are significantly higher than domestic violence cases of any other month this year," said Papalii.
The Assistant Commissioner also stated that domestic violence matters for October is the highest when compared to other crimes and cases such as robberies and thefts.
The number of domestic cases as reported by the Samoa Police for this month include, 8 individuals charged with inflicting bodily harm, 8 physical disputes within families, 8 family disagreement cases, 14 domestic cases involving couples, 7 drunkenness disputes, 7 verbal assaults, and one armed with a dangerous weapon case.
