Two students who are currently studying in the Media & Journalism
course at the National University of Samoa (N.U.S) underwent a 4 week
work experience with the EyeSpy FM Radio Station (87.5).
Salome Lome Seinafolava and Hopeannie Pene Lauvao are both second year
students at the Media and Journalism School, and they both expressed
that they were glad to experience how it is to actually be a reporter
and covering other aspects of being a journalist.

The two aspiring journalists wrote and translated news articles during
their internship, covering various subjects such as sports, politics
and issues regarding the community.

"First of all , I give glory to the heavenly father for his love and
guidance upon me and Hope's journey here at Eyespy Radio. We got to
experience first-hand how to interview subjects and also gather
information to compile news articles," says Salome Lome Seinafolava.

Hopeannie conveyed that the experience gained from the four-week work
attachment with Eyespy has been a surreal journey.

"I really enjoyed heading out with the crew here at Eyespy in the last
few weeks, we conducted interviews for the "Eyes On The Auala"
program, and also had the opportunity to interact with members of
the public, as well as interviewing government ministers and
officials," she said.

Salome further added that during their internship, they received a lot
of guidance from the news team in terms of understanding certain
jargon pertaining to the field of study they are currently
undertaking.

The two also mentioned that they did not only learn about journalism,
but also learnt marketing skills from Mere Bella Tuaniu, who is part of
the Marketing and Sales team at Eyespy Radio.

Mere Bella stated that "It was a great experience working with Hope
and Lome, not only in our working environment, but also learning from
them during their experience as interns. It's great seeing someone
striving and working hard to reach their life goals, because we've all
been down that road before,"

"I wish them all the best of luck in their endeavors. It's been a real
privilege working with both of them," she said.

Salome and Hope encourage the young people of Samoa to pursue a career
in media and journalism if it's their passion.
