"PLASTIC ISLAND"A SAMOA FILM IN 7 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES
Czech Republic photographer Denisa Maňásková who has been stranded in Samoa for almost 3 years with her partner Adam Vilkus have launched their "Plastic Island" Movie film on Marine litter in 7 different languages.
The film called "Plastic Island" which featured Samoan Entertainer and Radio announcer Iosefa Domingo Enari together with several other characters from across the island , depicted the effects of plastics on Samoa's conservative environment.
The official premiere of the film was held at the Tiapapata Art Centre on Saturday where Denisa explained to more than 30 people who attended the driven passion they poured into the project.
"Before we started filming , we (Adam) wanted to tell the story on how plastic consumption affects the Pacific oceans and the future generation of Samoa," she said.
"We wanted to show the viewers how the plastics that we throw in the oceans can end up back on our meal plates," she added.
The film in collaboration with SWAP/SPREP (Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme) showcased various landscapes in Samoa and animations by Magnum Photographer Lorenzo Cateno , the author of the photography book MARETERNO.
Six languages were incorporated and translated by narrator Lagi Natanielu with many other associates , including voice overs that are being showcased in the short film."It was very interesting to produce this short film in 7 different languages and to actually have a chance to listen to other polynesian languages." stated Denisa in a facebook post.
Photographer and Independent Filmaker at the Tiapapata Art Centre Steve Percival was among the many guests that witnessed the launching of the film.
Denisa later on acknowledged the presence ane support of the associates who assisted her production and other aspects that went into creating the "Plastic Island" movie.
"Thank you to everyone who was part of this short film" she said.
"We will be sharing the whole version across Social Media soon as well as on television so please stay tuned" Denisa concluded.
According to Denisa , she filmed entirely with her partner Adam in a script Steve Percival and Adam worked on , the project was filmed for 6 months and was managed by their Project Manager Julie Pillet.
