The 35th Digicel Marist Sevens International Tournament has kicked off with the under-18 teams battling to climb their pool games despite a showery start to the day.

Despite the slippery terrain and gloomy weather, spirits were not dampened as each team fought intensely, vying for a spot in the semi-finals.

A spectator commented that every member of each team "gave their all in every game; it was just a matter of experience and skill level that set them apart."

Aleipata College caught the attention of several attendees, particularly the player wearing the number 7 jersey, who became a crowd favorite. A supporter confidently commented, "They are definitely the ones to take the cup for the under-18 category."

One spectator expressed respect for the American Samoa team for their participation in the tournament.

A representative from the Organizing Committee stated, "Despite the weather at the beginning, each game was played on time, and today's tournament is considered a success as we look forward to tomorrow's Open Men's tournament."

The two under-18 teams battling for the finals this coming Saturday will be Leulumoega Fou College and Aleipata College, both of which have shown impressive team chemistry and individual player skills.

On the women's side, No Idea will be facing Savaii Queens, with both teams securing comfortable wins in their semi-final matches.

The Men's tournament will take place tomorrow at approximately 9 am at St Joseph's College, Alafua.

The International tournament has two more days of competition, including the finals on Saturday.
