Samoa Commemorates International Firefighters Day
The Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority (S.F.E.S.A.) commemorated International Firefighters Day on Wednesday with the theme "Reminisce with gratitude, moving forward diligently in faith".
The programme was held at the S.F.E.S.A. Faleata Station on Wednesday morning.
The Associate Minister of Police and Prisons, and Fire and Emergency Services Fepuleai Faimata Su'a said in his keynote address on Wednesday that International Firefighters Day is commemorated on the 4 of May ever year.
Fepuleai explained that it is a day that recognises, and honors the commitment and sacrifice they have made to ensure the protection of lives.
An award ceremony was held during the event where firefighters were awareded certificates for their service.
The S.F.E.S.A. Commissioner Tanuvasa Petone Mauga said that S.F.E.S.A. has come a long way improving capacity for firefighters to ensure they are equipped with the right skill and knowledge to carry out their roles effectively.
"We once again thank our supporting partners, Government Ministries, and corporations, private sectors, and donor partners locally and internationally," Tanuvasa said.
"F.E.S.A. does not have any gold nor silver to offer for your kindness but we pray to our Heavenly Father for His blessings upon each and everyone who have shared our journey with us over the years."
