SAMOA DOMINATES DAY ONE OF OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS: FOUR GOLDS IN SPECTACULAR SHOW

In a spectacular showcase of talent and determination, Samoa's weightlifting stars continue to make waves at the Oceania Senior & Junior Championships & Olympic Qualifiers 2024 in Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand. Building on their successes from the opening day, Samoa's athletes have once again proven their prowess on the international stage, securing multiple gold medals and setting new records.

On the opening day of the championships, Samoa set the tone for the competition with outstanding performances from Nevo Ioane and John Tafi. Nevo Ioane's victory in the Men's 67kg division marked Samoa's first gold medal of the event, while John Tafi's triumph in the Men's 73kg division added to the nation's growing tally of achievements.

NBS Samoa Weightlifting Powerhouse Junior Duo:

Yesterday's successes were followed by an outstanding performance from Samoa's rising stars, 16-year-olds Tovio Ah Chong and Emanuel Ulimasao, who showcased their immense talent and potential.

Emanuel Ulimasao's Double Gold:

Emanuel Ulimasao, at just 16 years old, secured not one, but two gold medals in today's competitions. His remarkable feat included victories in the Men's 89kg Division, further solidifying Samoa's dominance on the podium.

Tovio Ah Chong's Record-breaking Win:

Meanwhile, Tovio Ah Chong, also 16 years old, made history of his own by securing Samoa's third gold medal in the Men's 81kg division. Ah Chong's achievement was further highlighted by his setting of a new Oceania record in the Clean + Jerk, showcasing his exceptional talent and potential as a weightlifting prodigy.
