The excitement is palpable as the International World Distance Championship draws near, and teams from around the globe set their sights on Samoa. Among them, Team Samoa has been training tirelessly, gearing up to make their mark on the prestigious competition scheduled for August 2023. To rally behind and support Team Samoa, the Samoa Outrigger Canoe Association (SOCA) is hosting a remarkable 24-hour paddlethon, an event bound to make waves and create a lasting impact.

Starting today (Friday, 21st July 2023) at 3 pm, and continuing until 3 pm tomorrow (Saturday, 22nd July 2023), paddlers will be embarking on an endurance feat that showcases their dedication and passion for outrigger canoeing. Across Sheraton in Apia will be the hub of activity, where Team Samoa has recently relocated their training grounds, including their V6 (6-person outrigger canoe) on display, catching the attention of passersby.

SOCA's paddlethon will also take place along the inviting seawall, where a stage is being constructed to serve as a loading area for the world-class athletes during the 2023 World Distance Championships. This extraordinary event aims to raise vital financial support for Team Samoa's pursuit of excellence on the international stage.

In this time of preparation and anticipation, SOCA extends a heartfelt invitation to all paddlers and community members to come together and demonstrate their unwavering support. Every gesture counts, and any assistance is deeply appreciated. For those willing to contribute, donations can be made through the ANZ account number 1230239.

During the paddlethon, participants and supporters alike can indulge in BBQ, available for $15 and $20, ensuring everyone's strength and spirits remain high throughout the day and night.

Join us from 3 pm on the 21st of Friday to 3 pm on the 22nd of Saturday as we unite in backing Team Samoa for the World Distance Championship in 2023. Let's create an atmosphere of encouragement, inspiration, and camaraderie that will echo through the waters and propel Team Samoa to greatness.

**Come one, come all, and let's show our support for Team Samoa! Together, we paddle toward victory in the World Distance Championship, 2023 in Samoa.**
