Samoan Public Holidays Confirmed For Christmas and New Year

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Labour (M.C.I.L) has announced the public holidays for the Christmas and New Year.

The notice states that the public, business, communities, shop owners, employers, and workers are hereby advised that 25, 27 of December and 1st and 3rd of January 2022 are to be treated as public holidays.

“Shops selling goods may open during public holidays according to the provisions of the Public Holidays Act 2008," the notice reads.

"However, employers are reminded to comply with section 39 of the labour and Employment Relations Act 2013 regarding the rate of wages to be paid to employees who work on Public Holidays."
