S.I.T.A PRESIDENT TO TACKLE GENDER EQUALITY

Sarai Faleupolu Tevita who is the newly appointed President for the Samoa Information Technology Association (S.I.T.A) . The growing platform has elected new members of their executives this month.

The Samoa Information Technology Association (S.I.T.A) has been committed and has contributed to the community of Samoa in terms of affiliation with the ICT profession and how it could benefit Samoa. Having to elect their new executive members , Sarai Faleupolu Tevita who has been selected as the new president has expressed the importance of this elevation not only for herself but for Samoa.

With the world vastly moving into the changes of technology and its benefits, President Sarai believes that this initiative will improve the life of many Samoans in terms of safe cyber protection when roaming online.

" The goal is keeping our Samoan community safe from online threats and the fast evolution of technology to improve services and the quality of life, " she told EyeSpy.

When asked about one of the many problems she is looking to tackle while in the presidential seat , Ms Sarai mentioned that S.I.T.A holds high values in its 7 objectives , amongst those objectives are overseeing the eligibility of members to join the association and also ensuring that gender equality is maintained a healthy balance.

"We are trying to ensure that girls and women in ICT are in sustained commitment and implementation of gender responsive policies in the ICT sector for gender equality and

digital equality " she responded in an email.

President Sarai acknowledges the work of their previous executives since the revival of S.I.T.A in 2019. She extended her appreciation in the support of the Minister of Communication Information & Technology Hon Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo for the support and obligation of the Samoan community.
