The leader of the H.R.P.P Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has pointed
out all the developments they have done in the Tuanaimato area, where
a 400 acre land of Cocoa Plantation was turned into Sport facilities
for the youth of Samoa.

According to a Letter to the Editor that was sent out by the
Opposition Party , it stated that the nation faced a tragic loss
during the Cyclone hit in 1990 and 1991 completely wiping the Copra
and Cocoa plantations around the Tuanaimato area.

"Simple common sense tells us that such an attitude can only drive the
Nation backward not just in sports, but in everything that makes us a
proud Nation"stated the letter.

This natural disaster has landed a decision that was made by the HRPP
years ago to turn the remaining land into a Sports Facilities for the
people of Samoa. The governing party at the time believed that it was
the sensible thing to do under the circumstances that they were faced
with.

"The original expectation of the Cabinet was to carve up the 400 acres
at Tuanaimato into quarter acre sections for settlements" stated the
L.T.E

It also mentioned that the Minister of the Samoa Land Corporation at
the time administered the use of these lands under the Samoa Trust
Estates Corporation Lands which currently sits under the S.L.C . The
request was immediately approved but wasn't thoroughly executed by the
Cabinet at the time.

This led to a number of neighbouring villages later on residing in the
area. According to the letter , the villagers were forcefully staying
in the area as unauthorised occupants. The law was involved hence why
the police had a difficult time evicting the "squatters" and the
situation became unavoidable.

The Letter that was signed by the Opposition Party leader Tuilaepa
Sailele Malielegaoi states the infrastructure accomplishments that
were done by the "HRPP Government" at the time and to date. This
provided several international conferences that Samoa hosted like the
(S.I.Ds) and more UN related conferences.

Furthermore , the construction of Sports Facilities in the rural areas
of Samoa must continue. The opposition party believes that the
motivation for competitors in Samoa is driven by this reason and will
lead Samoa into being champions in international events.

"In sports as in music, there is no discrimination and no enemies,
whether the sports field is located in a district under the HRPP MP,
the benefit accrues equally to all the sons and daughters of Samoa."
stated the letter.
