TAPATAPAO COMMUNITY RECEIVES BIOGAS UNITS
The Tapatapaō community has launched its first ever biogas project starting off by installing 5 units this week to assist them with the sustainable development of farm life and furnish the growth of organic fertilisers and clean fuel.
Elena's family , a recipient of one biogas unit stated “I am very happy to have the convenience of being able to make my own cooking gas and the significant savings this will have for me.”she said.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries sourced sheep manure from the sheep station in Avele as for kitchen waste and food scraps will be used by each unit. The SAT$40,000 project is part of the Tanumapua Baptist Church Bioga's for Food Security and Environmental Preservation.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) were highly acknowledged with the funding that they and Global Environment Programme (GEF-SGP) collaborated on. Organic fertilisers will assist 17 farming families enhance their agricultural developments and not forgetting the
advocacy to ban synthetic fertilisers. Eight local communities are benefitting from 27 community projects.
