The College Rugby Season has officially kicked off

 

It is that time of the year many a rugby youngster has been waiting for, as the Zone A rugby competition has officially kicked off. Many a young rugby hopeful crowed Leififi College on Friday afternoon as the Zone A committee under the guidance of the Lapaki Samoa lunched the start of their season.

The president of the Zone A competition Leauanae Pelesala Togafau stated that they are very excited for the competition to get under way as they look at a 4 week tournament for the under 16 and under 18 age group.

Leauanae praising the teachers of all the schools involved as they as well as he see the importance of these competitions for the growth of these young boys and girls

The president also acknowledged the importance of equality in sports with their female competition also making traction in the schools involved. But only wished more schools would join.

The focus this year is the same as always says the president. And that is to create a platform where young talented athletes can be moulded to benefit the future of rugby in Samoa. Aswell as providing an avenue for them to potentially have a future in the sport

The competition will run for 4 weeks where the best teams will be selected to represent Zone A in this years Champ of Champs.
