Tupuola Ato Plodzicki Secures Victory In Pro Debut
Samoa's boxing prodigy, Tupuola Ato Plodzicki predicted correctly when he said that his professional debut against Fiji's Apisai Naciqa will not make it to the 6th round, which he did so in emphatic style during the third round of their bout last Friday night.
Tiered as the "New Generation Judgement Day 2022", the event featured two bouts and debuted the professional boxing careers of both Tupuola Ato Plodzicki and Marion Ah-Tong.
Tupuola was too fast for Fijjian' Apisai Naciqa who did not have any answer for the strong punches and combinations from the Samoan.
In the first round Tupuola opened up the scoring with his formidable right jab which caught Apisai a couple of times during the early seconds of the round.
The Fijian survived the first round due to his ability to avoid the attack from Tupuola who was relentless in chasing his opponent down.
Into the second round of the bout, Tupuola remained on the offensive and hunted down Apisai, catching him with a right jab that sent the Fijian to the floor for the first time in the fight.
Apisai got back up and carried on but Tupuola was merciless as he kept going after Apisai and knocked him down again with an overhand right to the side of the head.
Apisai's only method of defence against Tupuola was clinching and grabbing as he could not parry or block any of the punches, remarkably, Apisai managed to survive and make it through to the end of the round.
In the third round Tupuola hit Apisai with another left overhand which sent Apisai reeling into the corner of the ring, and again prompted another count from the referee.
But against all odds, Apisai would not give up and managed to beat the countdown from the ref. However, he could not avoid the inevitable as Tupuola smelled blood and never gave him any reprieve.
Apisai fell to the ground again shortly when he stood back up, but not from a punch but rather the Fijian tripped due to fatigue.
Apisai was able to resume with the fight but Tupuola was also ready to end it, sending the Fijian to the floor two more times before the referee saw enough to award the (technical knockout) T.K.O win to Tupuola Ato Plodzicki.
Marion Ah-Tong was also victorious against Ratu Rakuro Domocokai via unanimous points decision.
