Vodafone Helps Aspiring Singer's Music Career
A 15-year-old singing sensation and aspiring music artist from the village of Fasito'o - Uta has been signed by telecommunications company Vodafone Samoa, who's agreed to assist the youngster in creating and launching her debut music video. In the beginning of this month a viral video of the talented Ms. Vaesala Talavave performing her rendition of Bruno Mars's hit song "When I was Your Man" surfaced on Facebook.
The video was uploaded on her music teacher's Facebook Page called Baba Yaga Don. Miss Talavave was called in to Vodafone Samoa's headquarters at Maluafou on Wednesday morning, the 15th of February with the purpose of meeting the team to discuss plans to eventually score a music video with Vodafone.
Vaesala will be filming this music video with one of Samoa’s renowned Bands, Pacific Love Band from the big island of Savaii who have been consistently putting out new popular songs such as "A e iai" and "E malie mai ia".
Vaesala's music teacher and mentor, Mr. Vilo Fonomaaitu Sulufai stated during the meeting with Vodafone that he is pleased to see the uploaded video go viral on social media. He further conveyed that there is so much that is going on in the world today especially in the lives of the young people.
" However, I am glad that Vaesala has been given this golden opportunity to make a difference in her life” he said.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Samoa, Mr. Rana Bose said that Vodafone has always encouraged young talents in Samoa and have dedicated resources to build their careers. "Our long association with Manu Samoa 7s to identify young rugby players from grassroot level, many have represented Samoa on the world stage.
Mr. Bose also added that Vodafone Samoa has been sponsoring Miss Samoa pageants over many years to empower young women. " Ms. Vaesala has the potential to represent Samoa at the international stage. We were already looking for a singer for our upcoming music video, and when her viral video was shared to us by a few employees, we immediately decided to give her a platform. She will join Pacific Love in our upcoming music video," relayed Mr. Bose.
Vaesala's mother, Mrs. Talavave Faaiugame Pulou is beyond proud of her daughter's achievement.
“Words cannot express how proud I am of my daughter. I thank Vodafone Samoa for recognizing Vaesala’s talent and immediately giving her a platform to expand her talent. Vaesala loved singing from a very young age, and we are privileged that this opportunity given by Vodafone will help her chase her dream," she said.
