Vodafone Samoa Continue To Help Develop Rugby In Samoa
Vodafone Samoa in its continuous efforts to assist Lakapi Samoa in maintaining and enhancing the development and growth of the sport of rugby in Samoa have announced that they will be sponsoring the National Provincial Cup which commences this coming weekend on the 18th of March 18th until the 22nd of April this year.
In a press statement from the telecommunications company, it mentioned that, "We are very excited and cannot wait to see how this 6-week tournament unfolds as this year will be a very good year for rugby in general."
Vodafone Samoa also announced that the reigning Miss Samoa, Haylani Pearl Kuruppu will be the face of the whole campaign.
Over the years Vodafone has been supporting Lakapi Samoa in its mission to identify and train grassroot rugby talents from villages to represent Samoa on the global arena. With many of them already in the national team and making Samoa proud with their performances.
"Rugby teaches young people to be disciplined and be better human beings. It will encourage grass roots growth and motivate our young ones to embrace the benefits of sports,” said Rana Bose, Acting Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Vodafone Samoa.
Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i, C.E.O of Lakapi Samoa during the launching of the partnership stated that, "We are proud to have Vodafone continue their partnership with Lakapi Samoa in our domestic tournaments becoming major sponsors of the National Provincial Championship. This tournament is important for the development of our up-and-coming players from around Samoa to feed into our Academy and pathway teams."
