Heavy Palolo Rise THURSDAY Morning
Palolo’ did rise this morning as predicted earlier and it was strong in Savai’I and some village in Upolu as expected.
The roadside and online(social media) sales of palolo this morning was evidence that the October harvest of the delicacy was plentiful.
People who went out on boats early mornin were richly rewarded. They were able to fill coolers and other containers with the greenish brownish sea worms.
Steady winds pushed the palolo to shore and some “okay catches” were reported from the east side hunting spots.
At Safotu Savaii a live video by the public of the palolo hunt on Facebook showed a big crowd scooping up palolo near the shore and everyone had something to take home.
Asau, Savai’i was one of the areas where the rising was reportedly heavy.
Containers full of ‘palolo’ were seen around the village this morning in the second straight day of the rising.
People were out fishing yesterday morning- Wednessday morning and while the rising was weak it confirmed the normal cycle with a heavier rising expected on the second day.
As for palolo sales, prices ranged from $30 for a fistful of palolo or ‘ofu palolo or 350 ml mayonnaise container of palolo to as much as $300 for a biscuit container.
