17 drownings occurred from January 2021 to April 2022

The Samoa Police Services has stated that there was a total number of 17 drownings that occurred within the period of January 2021 to April 2022, while the Samoa Fire Emergency Services Authority (S.F.E.S.A.) made a total of 328 fire responses from January 2021 to January 2022.

In a response to Eyespy Radio email queries, the Deputy Police Commissioner Papali’i Monalisa Tiai-Keti stated that there were a total of 10 drownings that occurred from January 2021 to December 2021.

Papalii added that there have been 7 drownings that have occurred from January 2022 to May 2022.

According to AC Operations of S.F.E.S.A, Matofai Mata'u Lotu when contacted by Eyespy Radio on Friday, all fire responses are inclusive of structure or house fires, vehicle, grass, rubbish, bush fires.

He added that all rescue responses are inclusive of land rescue, sea Rescue and rescue efforts during Motor Vehicle Accidents, while all Ambulance Responses are the amount of responses our F.E.S.A. Emergency Medical Response Division (E.M.R.) had catered for the community within the time period of January 2021 to January 2022.

S.F.E.S.A. had made a a total of 3,754 ambulance response from January 2021 to January 2022.
