PETROL PUMP FIRE SA'ANAPU : ARREST MADE

Police have completed their investigations in relation to the fire at a petrol station at Sa'anapu.

As a result, the Police have subsequently arrested and charged a 17 year old male from Siumu for allegedly starting the fire.

The youth was in the back of the truck while it was being refuelled. CCTV footage at the service station indicates that the youth lit something which was thrown into a container next the petrol pump.

This caused the fumes and spilt petrol to ignite.

Fortunately there were no injuries and minimal property damage resulting from the fire.
