Agriculture Ministry holds Poultry Market Day
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and stakeholders organized a Poultry Market Day in the Malaefatu Reserve Park, Sogi, on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.
Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Schmidt, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, gave the keynote speech. In order to ensure the security of food and nutrition, he praised the poultry farmers for their hard work and urged them to expand and produce more. At a speech given on behalf of the FAO, Mr. Joseph Nyemah spoke.
This is a first-of-its-kind occasion. The goal is to unite chicken producers in order to realize the potential marketability of the local chicken, either for eating or for breeding.
They may interact with interested members of the public, share expertise and experience with them, and test the agreed-upon selling price for their items.
The market day is thought of as a venue for poultry producers to increase the visibility of their products and meet customer expectations.
This activity was made possible through the FAO Technical Cooperation Project titled: “Support to address vulnerabilities to agriculture, nutrition and food security due to COVID-19”.
The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries acknowledged with appreciation the continued support rendered by the FAO for the development of agriculture and fisheries in Samoa.
