Akon Waves Samoa Flag At Concert

After Toa Samoa's historic semi-final win against Rugby League World Cup 2021 hosts' England last Sunday morning, support from fans around the globe have since surfaced on various social media platforms. One such supporter who was far from many Samoans' minds is famous Senegalese and American music artist, Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, known mononymously as Akon.


The artist was seen waving the flag of our small island nation while performing in one of the three concerts he's scheduled to feature in. A video on TikTok posted by an account called #lilsainted, sees Akon proudly waving Samoa's flag while he was standing atop of fans and performing one of his many hit singles called "I'm so Paid".


The artist who certainly holds Samoa close to his heart. also has a song with New Zealand and Samoan rapper Savage. Akon is currently on a three-concert tour with other famous artists and included concerts on the 5th of November at HBF Park in Perth Australia, Brisbane Showgrounds at Fortitude Valley on November 11th, and Western Springs Stadium in Auckland New Zealand on November 13.

The concerts also featured other renowned artists such as Macklemore, TLC, Ashanti, Shaggy, Jay Sean, Dru Hill, Lumidee , Havana Brown, Yo Mafia, and rapper Fatman Scoop.
