Two Casualties From Tufulele-Uta Accident.
As Samoa was celebrating Toa Samo'a semi-final win against England, a family residing in the village of Tufulele was struck by tragedy when two members of their family died as a result of a car accident last Sunday morning.The Deputy Commissioner of Samoa Police, Papali'i Monalisa Tia'i Keti, confirmed that the tragedy involved two deaths.
In an interview with Eyespy Radio on Tuesday, Papali'i stated that, "Two men lost their lives as a result of an accident. A member of the family stated when questioned by Police that one of the victims, a 52-year-old man was being rushed to the hospital because he did not respond when the family tried to wake him up in the early hours of Sunday morning,"
"The other casualty is the brother-in-law of the 52-year-old. and was the driver of the vehicle. There were five passengers inside the vehicle, the two casualties and three other family members. It is alleged that speeding was the cause of the accident," said Papali'i.
Papali'i also added that Police were notified at around 6:00am last Sunday regarding the fatal accident., and further conveyed that investigation by Police regarding the matter is still ongoing.
