The most prevalent cancer in Samoa was highlighted as the primary cancer awareness for “Pinktober” this year, 2023, according to the Samoa Cancer Society's assessment for Pinktober.

As of this month, the investigation for cancer diagnosis is underway, according to Papalii Su’a John Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Cancer Society, in order to learn more about those afflicted and begin treatment before the disease progresses too far.

The most common instance of breast cancer is still seen in Samoa. Every week, the investigations are conducted around Samoa, and they have succeeded in persuading members of the public to phone the Samoa Cancer Society office using the given numbers and locations. (23984)

25 cases of breast cancer were discovered in 2019, 20 cases in 2020, a few cases were confirmed in 2021 and 2022 owing to COVID-19 Pandemic limitations that shut down the whole nation of Samoa for two years. In contrast, it nearly hit 20 in just 5 months in 2023 (January, February, March, April, and May).

“The victims face the risks and I advise members of the public to use this Pinktober opportunity to go and get tested if positive. If worried, unsure, frustrated or random aches around the body, do not feel embarrassed to do a test and investigation,” said Papalii

The main theme for this year's Pinktober is based on Breast cancer awareness. For more information for the members of the public to know is that there will be Cancer Tests in ANZ Bank Matafele, 2-days-a-week of October.
