Toddler Dies From A Tragic Car Accident
The Ministry of Police have confirmed that a 3-year-old toddler died as the result of a deadly car accident which occurred last week.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Samoa Police Services, Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti, stated during an interview with Eyespy Radio on Wednesday this week the 3-year-old casualty was with his family watching a volleyball tournament at the Faleata Gymnasium 1 in Tuanaimato.
The identity of the suspect driver hasn't been made public, but Papalii has confirmed that the defendant is a female officer with the Samoa Police Force.
She stated that the accident transpired inside the Faleata Gymnasium premises. The driver of the vehicle did not stop the car when he hit the 3-year-old, however, he turned himself in to the authorities and reported the crime to Police.
The driver in question has been charged with negligent driving resulting in the death of the 3-year-old victim. In light of this tragedy, Papalii urges motorists and drivers to adhere to the speed limit and other road safety guidelines as a way to prevent and ensure that tragedies such as the one last week are averted.
Eyespy Radio contacted the 3-year-old victim's family for a statement regarding the tragic loss of their child, but was unsuccessful as the family is in mourning.
