Children usually go missing due to influence of mobile phones: Acting Police Commissioner
The Acting Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo has stated that most cases where children go missing is due to being scolded by parents or caused by mobile phones.
"Right now many children that have been found is just that they are scolded by their parents and they take off," Auapaau told Eyespy Radio on Tuesday.
"The other thing is that it is mobile phones. They would meet someone on the phone and just wander off and go to their friends.
"So criminality is not really involved here where children go missing, because a couple of days later they will be found by other family members or with a friend.
"So there is not much criminality involved but it is a concern to us with the change in behavior in children."
Auapaau explained that there is quite a lot of changes in lifestyle right now and advised parents to be cautious especially with how their kids are using mobile phones.
"They should see if it is safe to give their children mobile phones," he said.
