Drug testing Police officers currently in discussion phase

The Deputy Commissioner of the Samoa Police Services has stated that drug testing police officers is in the discussion phase and has been given a priority to move forward.

Deputy Commissioner of the Samoa Police Services Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti told Eyespy Radio on Thursday morning that they have reached out to Gogosinaepeleivaai Dr Belladonna Potoi to conduct the drug tests.

Asked why The Samoa Police Services are moving forward with this decision, Papalii explained that there have been a lot of comments that police are also using drugs.

She added that the plans have been in discussion for a while.

“Now we're giving it a priority to move this forward,” Papalii told Eyespy Radio.

Papalii also revealed that they are also drafting their internal policy to facilitate random drug tests.
