ELIJAH NIKO BACKS MANU SAMOA SEVENS WITH FINANCIAL AID

Former Manu Samoa Sevens player, Elijah Niko to aid Manu Samoa Sevens players financially and with supplements.

As the Manu Samoa sevens gear up for the HSBC Sevens tournament in Perth, a former player, Elijah Niko, has taken center stage by pledging financial support and supplement donations to boost the team's preparations.

In a recent social media announcement, Elijah Niko revealed his plan to contribute an additional $200 to each player selected for the HSBC Sevens in Perth, along with a $10 bonus for every try scored during the tournament. Not stopping there, Niko expressed his commitment to the players' well-being by providing protein powders and vitamins to support their training and recovery efforts.

Niko, a former Manu Samoa sevens player, has been a vocal advocate for improved treatment and salaries for Samoan rugby players. His initiative aims to not only uplift the spirits of the players but also address some of the financial challenges they may face. The donations are intended to assist the players both on and off the field, fostering a sense of support and solidarity within the Samoan rugby community.

However, Niko's social media posts did not go without controversy. Allegations made against the Manu Samoa management team prompted a response from Lakapi Samoa in a press release, denying certain claims. Despite the ensuing discussions and debates on social media, Niko remained steadfast in his commitment to the players, emphasizing that his contributions are aimed solely at supporting the athletes and the sport.

The HSBC Sevens in Perth is scheduled to take place from January 26th to 28th at HBF Park. Elijah Niko's pledge has not only injected a sense of financial security for the players but has also reignited conversations around the treatment and support of rugby players, particularly those representing smaller nations.

As the tournament approaches, all eyes will be on the Manu Samoa sevens, not only for their performance on the field but also for the impact of Elijah Niko's generous contributions, further highlighting the importance of community support and advocacy within the world of rugby.
