Farmers thankful for oranges
Farmers from Savaii are thankful for the amount of oranges they have received and have called it a blessing.
Oranges are being sold in front of many supermarkets in Samoa and has been a source of income for many farmers during the lockdown.
Most of the farmers are from Savaii and have brought the oranges to Upolu to be sold.
Semu Tapusoa Eti from Savaii told Eyespy Radio on Monday that it is a blessing from the Lord to their district.
"This is a different year because we are in a lockdown which stopped the ferry services and blocked the supply of oranges from Savaii," he said.
"Now that the ferry services have opened, and all of those selling oranges are coming here all at once."
He explained that this is usually the time of the year where there is an abundance of oranges.
"It is a huge assistance, a lot of families don’t have any income from overseas but its is because of the oranges that families have been able to earn an income from selling them," he said.
Despite there being many oranges and many farmers selling oranges in various locations, he explained that he is always able to sell all of the oranges
Va from Savaii told Eyespy Radio that the oranges is one way to treat COVID-19, but the fruits are also a huge assistance in terms of income.
"Even though Savaii is far but we [people] have come all this way to sell oranges to earn income to take care of their families, villages, and churches," she said.
Aitui Fili from Papa Sataua told Eyespy Radio that the oranges have been a huge help to families, and also to the church, and villages.
He also believes the oranges is one way to treat COVID-19. he sells oranges and koko and all of his oranges are from Papa Sataua.
