Flu Virus Worries Education C.E.O
The influenza B virus, which has been sweeping the country, has caused anxiousness for pupils, according to Aeau Chris Hazelman, chief executive officer of the Ministry of Education.
Aeau claimed that his Ministry isn't treating the situation lightly and has thought about measures like a potential school lockdowm despite the fact that students have already on their regular two-week break from classes.
The Ministry of Health announced publicly that there was a rise in cases of the influenza-like sickness, which they have identified as the Influenza B virus or flu.
This has caused alarm on the M.E.S.C. side, notably Aeau who stated that the Ministry will move right away to ensure the safety of children in Samoa if the disease shows no indications of abating after the two-week school break.
As it has done for the past few months, the Ministry of Health in Samoa is advising parents to have their children immunized. People living in the North West of Upolu, from Apia to Aana, have a poor immunization rate, according to their reports.
According to the Health Department's notification, children under the age of five should have the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) immunization as well as the other two shots.
