25-year-old Fetausia'i Fa'avae from the villages of Ululoloa, Nofoalii, Vaivase and Samauga is the top constable of this year's new recruits into the Samoa Police Force.

The young man stated in an exclusive interview with Eyespy Radio after the graduation ceremony on Friday at the T.A.T.T.E Convention Centre that he dedicates the prestigious award to the memory of his late grandmother who passed away earlier this year.

"I give all the glory and thanks to God above for without his guidance I wouldn't have been able to complete the recruitment process,"

"Three weeks into the recruitment training I was heartbroken when I heard the news that my grandma had suddenly passed. I was struck with grief as I thought about how she spoilt me when she was alive as I was her favorite grandchild,"

"I'm just so sad she couldn't be here today to celebrate my attainment of his award, nevertheless this is for you Mama," said Fetausia'i.

The newly sworn Constable also mentioned during the interview with Eyespy that he was a prisons officer at the Tanumalala Prison before he decided to take a crack at the police recruitment test.

"Five years ago, I was working as a prison guard at Tanumalala Penitentiary. I thought that it was my calling, but I'm glad that I took this opportunity and i am also very thankful to have received this prestigious award," he said.

Fetausia'i is the eldest of his seven siblings, and his elated mother Tumua Meafou Fa'avae conveyed that she is very proud for what her son has achieved.

"Praise be to God for without his grace my son wouldn't have had the strength and wisdom to complete the recruitment training. I want to thank our spiritual parents from the Nazarene Church in Ululoloa for all their prayers, and also to our family for all their support," she said.

Fetausia'i concluded by challenging the youth of Samoa who want to also join the force that, "We achieve anything we want to if we put our minds and concentration into it, and through praying and asking God to bless you. If I can do it, so can you,' he said.
