GOVERNMENT SETS TO UNVEIL NEW $60 NOTE

In commemoration of the 60th year since Samoa gained Independence, a new $60 tala note will be launched and unveiled by the Government to celebrate the milestone on the 26th of May 2023.
“This is indeed a milestone for Samoa’s 60th anniversary” said Agafili Shem Leo, the Independence Committee Chairman.
The $60 tala features the country’s very first Prime Minister, Fiame Mataafa Faumuina Mulinu’u 11 and the current Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, the first woman Prime Minister for Samoa.
This is a unique and significant event as Samoa’s very first Prime Minister and the one 60 years later, happen to be father and daughter.
The unveiling of the new note will be held after the 60th Independence Fautasi Race tomorrow.
