Breaking: 8 more positive cases for Samoa

Eight new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Samoa among passengers who arrived into the country from New Zealand yesterday.

The Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa this morning on Eyespy Radio Take it Easy Morning Show has confirmed the latest eight cases were passengers on the repatriation flight that arrived from New Zealand.

“I’ve just received the advice from the NEOC team for an update of the flight from  yesterday  of 172 passengers . Of course they were got tested …there was a returned of 8 positive case last night amongst the passngers.” Fiame said

All of the new 8 positive cases are being managed and controlled in quarantine. Currently there is no evidence of a community transmission according to Health officials.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Samoa Hon Fiame Naomi Mataafa, has urged those who have tested positive not to panic and to heed all conditions of their isolation.

Fiame said they are hoping there has been no community transmission but the NEOC and the government are prepared to quickly move up alert levels if need be.
