Football Federation Samoa kicks off 2022 with the annual Business House competition.

The FFS (Football Federation Samoa) officially started their 2022 competitions with the annual business house event, one of the federation’s main annual competitions since the year 1984, when it was first introduced. The FFS Business House event is a competition dedicated to the business community but has since opened up to include government ministries, and other private entities.

The annual competition was rekindled in 2020 after a year off due to COVID-19 restrictions and from then on the Federation has noticed a 20% increase in the number of participating teams, showcasing the growth of interest in not just the event but the whole sport itself.

In a press release by the Football Federation Samoa they talked about the purpose of initiating this event on a annual basis was “Helps encourage and promote Healthy Lifestyles, Helps diminish social, economic and political barriers, and Helps promote Fun Football in a healthy environment.”

The event kicked off on Tuesday, with a 14 week duration in mind and more then 40 teams will be competing for this year’s FFS Business House Trophy.

The matches are played within 40 minutes in two 20 minute halves, in a mixed format where boys mens and women play together, and teams having unlimited number of substitutions but with one major rule.
