Manu Samoa are crowned champions of the HSBC Cape Town 7's Cup as they beat New Zealand with 12-7 points in the finals.

After a a tough match Va'a Apelu Maliko, captain of Manu Samoa, was announced as the HSBS
Man of the match in the Finals "Glory to God , this is for Samoa."

After defeating Blitzboks South Africa in the semis, Samoa was on a
mission as the reached their first ever cup finals since the Sevens kicked off this
year.

Samoa’s tries came from Faafoi Falaniko and Vaa Apelu Maliko, while
New Zealand’s only try was scored by Brady Rush.

New Zealand, who were once the defending champions from the last Cape town
tournament back in 2019, prior to the pandemic, had recovered from a
shock loss on the opening day to Spain to get this far, while Samoa
were arguably the most impressive team in the tournament, getting to
the final by having to knock over the hosts in the semifinal.

The Manu Samoa 7s team scored two tries in the final of the Cape Town
7s to win the tournament.
New Zealand failed in terms to maintain strong defense and remained at
7points throughout the entire match.
