Medical doctors from China committed to helping Samoa
8 medical doctors from China are happy to assist the country, and will be working at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital at Motootua for 6 months.
The doctors are from the Affiliated Hospital of Yan Bian University in China's Jilin Province.
The team consits of Team Leader Jin Changhao (Gynecology), Ren Hongge (Orthopedic), Han Longzhe (Pathology), Li Xiaogang (Urology), Yuan Kuichang (Cardiology), Jin Jun (ENT), Jin Guanglin (Neurology), and Zhu Chengjie (ICU).
Dr. Jin told the Eyespy Radio on Tuesday that they are glad to be in Samoa.
He found out about Samoa through television and sports competitions, and hearing about famous people such Seiuli Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Dr. Jin would like to strengthen the friendship between China and Samoa and are prepared and have had intensive training in Changchun for three months, and their trip was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic
Dr. Li told Eyespy Radio on Tuesday that there is no urologist in Samoa but their are many urology patients.
"So I think I can do a lot of things for the patient. They need our help and I think our Government will continue to do this," Dr. Li said.
Language is not an obstacle for them as they have translation apps on their phone to assist them during their work.
Asked about any improvements needed in Samoa's healthcare system, Dr. Li explained the CT Scan has not been working for two years and it is a very important tool for doctors, adding that there should be an improvement.
Members of the medical team had talked about how they love the environment especially the beaches and commended the people of Samoa for their kindness and hospitality.
