Miss Pacific Contestants Ready For Pageant
Only a few hours left before they take the stage tonight for the 2023 Miss Pacific Islands crown, the beautiful contestants of this years prestigious pageant graced five decorative vehicles or floats put together by the villages of Apia, Puipa'a, Falevao, Satapuala, and Tanugamanono as part of the host nations celebration of its 60th year of independence from colonial rule back in 1962.
Even though the sky was grey and looked like it was about to rain, it did not stop the hundreds who crowded the streets of Apia and made their way to the front Government Building at Eleelefou to see this year's beautiful contestants.
First Place in the float competition went to the E.F.K.S Tanumagamanono Youth's float which brought the lovely Miss American Samoa. They won the competition's grand prize of $5000 tala.
The Youth group's representative, Ms. Blondie stated in an interview with Eyespy Radio that they are overjoyed with the result because it is a testament of all the hard work and effort they've put in decorating the vehicle.
Satapuala took out Second Place with Falevao coming in third, Puipaa placed fourth and in last was Apia.
The longest reigning Miss Samoa, Seumanu Fonoifafo McFarland stated during the prize giving ceremony for the float competition that it was an honor for her to serve the people of Samoa and the Pacific Region during her tenure as Miss Samoa and Miss Pacific Islands.
She encouraged this year's contestants to use this platform to show that women have what it takes to become excellent leaders.
Miss Nauru, Alexandra Melody Pitcher, conveyed that she is enjoying interacting with her roots as she is of Samoan descent.
She stated that she is very excited about the pageant. "I cannot wait to get out there tonight and just have fun and enjoy the moment," she said.
