RED CROSS EMERGENCY CENTRE FOR  FALEALILI DISTRICT

The British High Commission in Samoa collaborated with the Samoa Red Cross Society on Wednesday morning to sign a grant agreement of SAT$33,000.00 to assist the District of Falealili.

The project which is to build a Red Cross Emergency Centre will assist with any state of natural disaster , this following the District of Falealili becoming one of the most affected areas during tqhe 2009 Tsunami which claimed the life of (number of people).

The grant is set to develop a new storage facility for Red Cross in Falealili and an additional new house to be built in the District village of Siuniu. 

According to reports by local media outlets , aspects of the project includes development of a disaster response centre for the Samoa Red Cross Society , co-ordination of disaster risk reduction (D.R.R) climate change adaptation (C.C.A) management. 

Humanitarian work by the Samoa Red Cross Society for the Western East side of Upolu Island is part of the projects huge preparation plans if Samoa encounters natural disasters such as the Tsunami.

The grant agreement was signed by members of the Samoa Red Cross Society and the Bristish High Commisioner to Samoa David Warm.
