M.O.H DEALS WITH RISING DIARRHEA CASES

In the last two weeks ,187 new cases of diarrhea have been reported by the Ministry of Health with concerning numbers of a flu-like disease spreading and reaching 1,835 according to latest records released by Health Officials.

In between the months of January 16-22 the Ministry recorded 91 cases of diarrhea under an observation called the "Syndromic Surveillance Report" which later on climbed to 96 cases between January 23-29.

The Ministry is currently investigating the cause of the disease and medical examinations are being conducted at the hospital's laboratory. Records showed that a decrease of cases from this flu-like illness has dropped from 1,104cases from the first observation to 731 cases in the
second observation.

According to a report by the Ministry of Health, samples are being obtained and recorded to verify the cause of the illness. M.O.H were advised to transfer these specimens abroad for thorough examinations.

The report stated that COVID-19 testings are required for both current and previous tests to detect any infection. The  report stated that 41 cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection were recorded , including symptoms of sneezing , muscle aches and sore throat. The infection includes  severe lung infection in young children and infants called bronchiolitis.

The Ministry is continuing their medical examinations and will notify the public on results and further updates according to the report.
