With the assistance of the governments of Australia and Samoa, UN Women delivered aid worth $4,000,000 WST on Monday to the Ministry of Women, Community, and Social Development.

Women from communities in distant and rural places, a representative of UN Women, the New Zealand High Commissioner in Samoa,  Laaulialemalietoa Schmidt and many others were present during the ceremony.

A ceremonial event to honour every woman in both urban and rural areas for their contribution and recognition in each town served as the program's official beginning.

The event centres on the donation of funds and goods by the Australian government and UN Women to the ministry so that they may be used to spread awareness and recognize the contributions that women have made to communities all over the world and in Samoa.

In her remarks, Her Honourable Mulipola Anarosa Ale described the purpose of the items and money donated by UN Women. To the Ministry of Women, these consisted of 40 tablets and 15 laptops.

“The items and help are well deserved and to be recognized internationally, despite women’s hard work contribution to the world’s food system.”

“UN Women and the Australian government are given a round of applause for helping our women achieve.”

“15 laptops and 40 tablets as announced are given to selective women, market vendors and we all commence today until the 19th of October 2023,” said Mulipola.

The aim and goal, as mentioned by the Minister, for 2023’s International Women Day in Rural Areas is for women to get proceeds and all the marketers and vendors to create and build an association of Market Vendors around Samoa.

The Samoa Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, The Government of Samoa, New Zealand High Commission and the attendees acknowledged the help of the UN Women Organization.
