Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa has conveyed salutations of love from New Zealand where she is currently receiving medical attention.

This is according to the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (M.P.M.C.) Agafili Shem Leo.

Agafili, speaking on behalf of the Head of State His Highness Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II and the Government of Samoa, made the announcement on Sunday, 8 January, 2023.

The C.E.O. spoke following the conclusion of the special Church service that opened the National Week of Prayers and Fasting.

He expressed love sent from Prime Minister Fiame who was noticeably absent from the special Church service.

She has traveled out of the country and is in New Zealand for medical purposes, Agafili explained.

He asked for prayers for the leader of the nation – to aid, protect and bless her in her travels and in her medical check-ups.

“The Madame Prime Minister sends her love from where she is…she is out of the country seeking medical attention,” said Agafili.

“Our prayer is that God may bless the leader of our country on her travels and in her medical check-ups.”

The C.E.O. thanked the Chairman of the National Council of Churches (N.C.C.) Retired Rev. (Methodist Church) Aisoli Iuli for leading the special Church service and all who attended and contributed to the service.

Agafli thanked all servants of God and the N.C.C. for joining the government to mark the start of the New Year and seek God’s blessings on the nation’s journey into 2023.

The National Week of Prayers and Fasting will close on Friday, 13 January at 11 a.m. at the Government Prayer House in Palisi.
